Laudato Si: Care for Our Common Home: What Is Required of Us?

This short series on March 23 and 30, 2023, will cover the major concepts of Laudato Si (Praise Be to You: On the Care of Our Common Home), the encyclical by Pope Francis on the state of our environment and our responsibility toward it. Dr. Laurie M Johnson is a Co-Founder of the Maurin Academy.

In each of the two sessions, Laurie will speak on the topic for 30-45 minutes, with a focus on the social ramifications of the Pope’s teachings as a part of the Church’s social thought, and then invite questions and discussion. The sessions will run from 7-8:30 p.m. US Central Time on both Thursdays.

Dr. Johnson is a Professor of Political Thought at Kansas State University. Her YouTube channel and podcast, Political Philosophy, covers classic and contemporary political thought and Christian political theology. She is also co-host of the Maurin Academy’s podcast Dustbowl Diatribes.
