CW Community Directory Update: Onboarding

Welcome! If you signed up to help us update the Catholic Worker Community Directory, you are in the right place. Here’s how to get started:

Join Notion…or not

Most of our work will take place in a Notion team space. Notion is a really easy-to-use collaborative project workspace. You should have received an invitation to join Notion from the catholicworker.org email address. If not, reach out to Jerry at jerry@catholicworker.org.

If you’re the type of person who tends to be pretty comfortable surfing the web, you probably won’t have any problems getting started with Notion. If, on the other hand, you run into problems or would like to get a tutorial, you can do so at the Notion Help Center.

You should have access to everything within the team space. If Notion prompts you to request membership access, decline and move on. If you find you can’t access something, email me directly.

Once you’re signed in, you can find the team space here:

“But wait! What if I don’t want to use Notion?”

That’s okay! You can work with communities using the public form found here:

Here are the steps to follow if you want to participate in the project without being on Notion:

  1. Email me at this email address: jerry@catholicworker.org
  2. I will pair you with another volunteer.
  3. That volunteer will assign communities to you.
  4. You will reach out to the communities you are assigned and either update the information with a phone call or invite them to update the information via email. If you contact them to update the information by email, you can send them a link to the public forum.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

Review the Walkthrough Videos

Once you are in Notion, please review the walk-through videos and any accompanying documents before getting started. If you have questions, reach out to me or one of the other volunteers in the team space.

Note that there is a discussion forum as well where you can ask questions.

Thanks everyone! We are aiming to be done by September 1st, if possible, although we will go as long as it takes to get 90% of the communities contacted.
