Martha Hennessy Events in Scotland

Martha Hennessy will be visiting Scotland from March 13 – 25, with several events already planned and others to be announced. Here’s the itinerary as of March 3:

13th March
Arrive in Glasgow 7.50am

14th March
2-4pm Contemporary Catholicism Glasgow Uni Theology Dept.
(Anna Theology Thursday Talk on CST and nonviolence 5pm) Conversational/interview style. To be recorded and transcribed for Open House. Audience: 24 students + any other staff/students who wish to join. Course for 4th year undergraduates in Theology so will have theological knowledge though not necessarily specifics of CW/nonviolence/Day etc.

15th March
Evening round table discussion with Catholic Worker

16th March
St. Aloysius – 12.15pm Mass – highlighting Dorothy Day – followed by lunch 1pm – Presentation finishing by 4pm
Audience: mainly parishioner’s of St Aloysius but open to all parishes

17th March
St. Aloysius – Young Adults Group ISC – 7pm
Light supper followed by 20 minute talk – option to stay for lectio/Mass

18th March
9-10am The God Question: Exploring Christianity Undergraduate first year Theology Theology Dept.
12pm Catholic Teacher Formation 1st Years
Audience: First year theology students. 80 on the course though maybe half will turn up … Mostly a general arts program so not a lot of theological knowledge/won’t necessarily know about CST.

19th March
Mass with Catholic Teachers Postgraduates. Informal chat. 9.30am
2pm Catholic Teacher Formation 2nd Years
Audience: Second year education students training to be teachers. Do not have a lot of theological knowledge at all though might know some key elements of CST. Will be interested in practical elements/implementation in education/wider Church.

20th March
7pm St Helen’s parish church
Audience: mainly parishioner’s of St Helens but open to all parishes

21st March
Noon Parliament with Bill Kidd
Theology Thursday Talk St Andrews Foundation Dept. Education Glasgow Uni 5pm
Audience: Student teachers teachers headteachers university staff local community from parishes. Will be a mixed audience some with theological knowledge some with very little. May not know about the CW. Again probably interested in educational elements/action. Teachers also ones who do all catechesis in Scotland.

22nd March
Edinburgh
Evening discussion & q&a at Christ Church SEC in Morningside
(Revd Ryan Bennett) More info to follow
Audience: mainly parishioner’s of Christ Church but open to all parishes
(Jesuits wanted to be involved)

23rd March
Return from Edinburgh
Afternoon meeting with Archbishop of Glasgow
William Nolan
Format of meeting to be decided

24th March
Faslane and Loch Lomond
Dinner with Catholic Worker

25th March
Depart Glasgow airport 8.20am
