Acerca de Magdalena Muñoz
Magdalena Muñoz Pizzulic nace en la ciudad de Punta Arenas, en la Patagonia Chilena. Hija y nieta de profesores y trabajadores de estancia, finaliza sus estudios secundarios en el Liceo María Auxiliadora de Punta Arenas, una de las primeras obras salesianas en el continente. Realiza sus estudios universitarios en la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Santiago; obteniendo una Licenciatura en Ciencias Sociales y posteriormente una Licenciatura en Teología (Bachiller Canónico). En este período participa en la Vicaría de Pastoral Universitaria, Centro de Estudiantes de Teología y la Revista de Acción Católica Universitaria (RACU). Es también cofundadora de la red Mujeres Iglesia Chile y representante de Chile en las primeras etapas de organización del Sínodo de las Mujeres (CWC). El año 2022 es becada por la Universidad de Notre Dame en EEUU para realizar un Magister en Estudios Teológicos con mención en teología moral, donde tiene la oportunidad de conocer el movimiento del Catholic Worker. En mayo del 2024 Magdalena se incorpora a la comunidad St. Peter Claver en South Bend. Actualmente trabaja a tiempo completo en New Day Intake Center, colabora en los diversos proyectos de hospitalidad de la comunidad y traduce algunas de las obras de Dorothy Day al español.
About Magdalena Muñoz
Magdalena Muñoz Pizzulic was born in Punta Arenas, Chilean Patagonia. Daughter and granddaughter of teachers and farm workers, she finishes her secondary studies at the Liceo María Auxiliadora de Punta Arenas, one of the first Salesian houses on the continent. She completed her undergraduate studies at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, Santiago; obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences and a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology (Canonical Baccalaureate). In this period she participates in the Vicariate of University Pastoral, Theology Student’s Government and the Journal of Catholic University Action (RACU). She is also co-founder of the network Mujeres Iglesia Chile and representative of Chile in the early stages of organization of the Women’s Synod (CWC). In 2022 she gets a scholarship from the University of Notre Dame in the United States to do a Master’s degree in Theological Studies with a mention in moral theology, where she has the opportunity to learn about the Catholic Worker movement. In May 2024 Magdalena joined the community St. Peter Claver in South Bend. She currently works full-time at the New Day Intake Center, collaborates in the various hospitality projects of the community and translates some of Dorothy Day’s works into Spanish.
