Dorothy Day House of Hospitality

Dorothy Day House of Hospitality

Dorothy Day House is located at 126 Juliette St, Greenslopes, 4120. Swing by any time to check out our free shop, meet some quality people, have a feed of dumpstered food and get involved with the community.
As a community there are 5 values that we live by: activism, environmental consciousness, hospitality, living simply in voluntary poverty and living in intentional community. As a community rather than a share house, we share more than just a living space, but also our possessions and food, and intentionally try to build deeper relationships with each other and those around us. We definitely aren't saints and it definitely isn't easy, but all of us believe and try to hold these values, and are there to support each other and the wider community when it is needed.
If you want to volunteer with us and help out the wider community, Food not Bombs is a great place to start! Every Friday afternoon we meet at 69 Thomas St, West End to cook up a free vegan feast for anyone that wants a healthy meal. We bring the food, you just bring yourself and an enthusiastic attitude. We usually meet around 4:30 pm, and serve food at 6:30 in the West End Community Park, 155 Boundary St, just across the road from the big lizard.
Every Wednesday night we have a community meal at our house, which everyone is welcome to come to (maybe let one of us know if you are planning on coming by so we know how many to cook for :)).
On the last Monday of every month, at 7:30, we have our doco night which loads of quality people from all walks of life come to. Come share an engaging meal with us, watch an engaging film and have some engaging conversation.
