Oxbow Farm is a small Catholic Worker inspired farm in Maryland. Our mission is to offer fresh produce, Christian hospitality, and ecological education to people experiencing material or spiritual poverty. We manage our land as a practice of integral ecology, where community members can learn the satisfying work of farming and enjoy the fruits of their labor. The farm is home to chickens, milk goats, a team of oxen in training, a farm cat, and lots of wildlife.
What We Do
As a community, we pray daily, practice the works of mercy, and strive to be a place of peace for people in need to experience healing through the rhythms of farm life. We're also theology nerds and we love to help people through existential crises whenever we can :)
We sell and donate our produce at the Govans Farmers Market, which is in a food desert in Baltimore, we offer a CSA (weekly produce subscription) on a sliding scale, and we make frequent donations to local food pantries.
We host neighborhood potlucks and bonfires each season. We are also providing incubator space for Marpe Community Health, a care farm that grows medicinal herbs and provides on-farm healing opportunities, co-founded by a counselor and a naturopathic doctor. We have many other wonderful volunteers and community members that share their gifts with us.
We host short-term volunteers and guests from all walks of life through a work-for-stay program called WWOOF (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms).
We also host longer-term community members through our Integral Ecology internship and apprenticeship programs.
